Why MaPS?
MaPS offers exceptional candidates outstanding opportunities for rapid professional development in an exciting and growing field. According to MONEY Magazine and Salary.com’s 2006 list of the 50 Best Jobs in America, Market Research Analyst ranks #6 overall in terms of industry and job growth potential, compensation, advancement opportunities, and other factors.
MaPS offers many experiences typical of other major consulting firms, including:
- Exposure to a wide variety of business issues, across a broad range of industries
- A high level of responsibility
- A steep learning curve
- A dynamic, challenging work environment
In addition to these "typical" consulting experiences, MaPS offers several unique experiences:
A focus on marketing issues
All MaPS engagements focus primarily on marketing issues. This means that MaPS helps its clients develop strategies to better manage customer relationships. Whether it's developing new value propositions based on a market segmentation study, measuring the potential market impact of new product development initiatives, or assessing a corporate brand positioning strategy, all of our analyses aim to help clients grow their businesses. As a firm, we find a growth-oriented consulting approach to be more positive, constructive, interesting, and challenging than the cost-reduction focus of many general management consulting projects.
Exposure to leading-edge analytic methods
One of the philosophies underlying the learning environment at MaPS is innovation. We are continually pushing to develop unique, advanced analytic methods that allow us to solve complex marketing problems. Daily exposure to this type of intellectual environment creates an incredibly challenging and enriching experience. Senior staff members attend professional and academic conferences or seminars, conduct research, and publish articles that focus on new analytic techniques. You can be sure that any methodology employed at MaPS is on the leading edge of market research and marketing science.
A sincere commitment to individual professional development
MaPS is committed to ensuring that its professionals continue to learn and grow professionally throughout their MaPS career. MaPS challenges professionals with a rigorous career review process that provides employees with direct feedback regarding areas of strength as well as developmental objectives. A formal mentorship program is also in place to provide all professionals with guidance on their career development.
MaPS views professional development as a process that continually evolves throughout one's career. In this spirit, MaPS offers an extensive array of seminars and internal resources to support independent learning and development. These resources include an integrated orientation program that eases each new employee into the MaPS community, company-wide knowledge sharing activities, and a formal series of 30 advanced seminars on MaPS' core competencies.
Opportunities for rapid advancement
MaPS strives to remain a true meritocracy, where professionals are rewarded based on their performance, not tenure. Professionals contributing at or beyond their current level are rewarded accordingly for their contributions. We are also very committed to developing our mid-level and senior managers from within the company. As such, we have two partners in the firm who started as Research Analysts.
Consistent with this philosophy, there also are no pre-requisites for career advancement. For example, graduate degrees are not required for continued career advancement (though MaPS is supportive of employees who decide to pursue further education).
